NLB App Redesign

UI/UX Project

How might we attract University students to increase their reading and the usage of the NLB Mobile App?

In collaboration with

(Group Project) We were tasked to identify problems and user needs for one interface and develop a new prototype that solves the problems.

From our research/interviews, we found that the NLB app is underutilised due to the lack of awareness and the usability of the app.

We created a fake persona and user journey so as to better understand the problems or identify useful features that a typical user might encounter while using the app.

We then identified existing useful features and came up with new features which will help improve the utilisation of the app. From there, we came up with 3 low-fidelity prototypes that contain features that we discussed earlier: Gamification, Social Media, and News Outlet.

We decided to develop our prototype in the direction of it being like a Social Media app as we felt that it better aligns with our students who are already used to these apps. The social feature also helps to retain these users as they have the chance to interact with their friends by sharing reviews, personal book progress, and attending events together.

After developing the high-fidelity prototype, we continued with user-testing to improve the usability of the app.
